X-Men: Mutant Insurrection is a cooperative game for one to six players.
Each player takes on the role of a member of the X-Men and teams up with others to fight against criminals, save endangered mutants, and prove to the world that mutants should not be feared.
The plots of some X-Men adversaries put both humans and mutants in danger. Throughout a game, players will need to overcome a main plot and the dangers it entails, culminating in a showdown
with a classic X-Men nemesis.

The mission is initiated through specific plot cards. Each player deploys their hero and, if they have deployed them on a mission card, then attempts to complete it by rolling dice that represent different abilities.
When engaging in combat, each hero involved in the confrontation will roll their dice, trying to achieve the results required by the card, earning rewards or penalties depending on the outcome of the test.
Notably, it will be possible to create bonds (camaraderie, love...) between characters that will enhance their resources. Likewise, Betrayals and Regrets can weaken them.
Meanwhile, the threat rises and dangers increase, leading to the final confrontation.
